At the turn of the year 2017/18, Production Studio Darjeeling asked us for animation support for the mobile game Homo Machina, which was created in cooperation with arte. So we had the pleasure to contribute 2D animated cinematics to the game inspired by the avant-garde work of the scientist Fritz Kahn. It’s about an adventurous journey into the inside of the human body, in which the player in a stylized ’20s factory playfully controls everyday functions such as opening eyes, eating or listening to music, and setting them in motion.
The challenge was to breathe life into miniature assets through cinematographic stylistic devices and to tell stories. Through a mix of classic frame by frame animation and cut-out, we got the characters and items moving.
